What does it mean to be underground?

underground will take audiences beneath the Cannon Theater at Sarah Lawrence College in a devised immersive theatre piece, a subterranean performance assemblage, drawing inspiration from underground art and cultural movements, resistance groups, underground cities and communities, and the transcendental other world of the underworld or grotto.
